The net.loadbang SQL package now supports external MySQL databases, as well as internal (embedded) HSQLDB.

The instructions are practically identical to those for HSQLDB, so I suggest you follow those (since it's probably useful to have both versions available). The only real difference is that MySQL requires its own JDBC driver: you can fetch it from mysql.com, or we have a copy of the JAR here, for convenience: mysql-connector-java-3.1.13-bin.jar.

As for HSQLDB, we have a demonstration Max patcher: MySQL.zip.
